Sony NEX 5

The Sony NEX-5 is one of the first Sony Mirrorless cameras. Introducing the now popular Sony E-Mount lens system.

Being an older model the camera does lack a lot of things. Mainly the HDMI output is not clean and is also of a lower quality, Also requires cropping to get rid of the UI elements. The best results are in full manual mode as you can lower the ISO to get a less grainy output but its not a great image from the HDMI.

On our unit we also suffered from a green face detection box that did vanish eventually but we have no idea why it was showing up. We think its some kind of face recognition with a database stored on the card? either way it seems fine if you use it with no memory card installed.

Note this camera can only output 1080i the are not settings for 720p or 1080p. Though we did experence it brieflly showing up as a 1080p60 source via an AmazonBasics HDMI to SDI adapter... but since then we have been unable to even get said adapter to output the 1080i signal so maybe it was just pure luck that the adapter did that itself?
