A fantastic value option the GoPro Hero 3/3+ offer a pretty decent image quality and are fairly easy to setup for clean HDMI.
You do have virtually zero controls though with the only options being the FOV.
Will run indefinitely on USB power but does get quite warm
Does support external microphones but they use the USB port for this so cant use a microphone at the same time as powering the camera
